After the meal is eaten, families would sing carols on the streets. Some individuals bring brightly colored stars on poles when they go caroling. Ukraine’s famous carol is ‘Shchedryk’ (Carol of the Bells).
All over the world, people spend their Christmas in different ways; traditions are different. Some watch movies, bake sweets, countdown with an advent calendar, and spend Christmas outdoors. Traditions are traditions. They are fun and memorable.

Ottawa is a beautiful place. There are many things to do and many sites to visit. The word "Ottawa" is originally is derived from the Algonquin word "adawe," meaning "to trade." The word "adawe" refers to Indigenous individuals who hunt, fish, camp, and harvest plants. Ottawa got its name in 1855. Moving on to Brampton. Brampton is full of buildings, mostly houses. The population in Brampton is 593, 638. This is huge for Brampton. This is why there are more opportunities due to too many people. Below is a comparison between Brampton and Ottawa on employment, cultural importance, historical importance, livability, and sustainability.
Cultural Importance
Historical ImportanceHistoric Bovaird House - This monument is a way for the youth to look back to the past. The Historic Bovaird House shows the way of life of Pioneers in the 19th century. This historic structure was also used to display the Georgian-style brick farmhouse which was available in the 19th century. Ottawa has more historical sites than in Brampton. Parliament Hall has an amazing history behind it. In 1916, after the hall was built in 1866, a fire destroyed part of the building. Later in 1916, workers fixed the damages. Rideau Canal is another historic structure located in Ottawa. The river was given the name “Rideau” by Champlain, written by him in 1603 because of the appearance of Rideau Falls. Lastly, Jacques Cartier Park. This park is located along the Ottawa river. Jacques Cartier was a voyager who passed along the Ottawa river. That is why the park is named after him. Livability
SustainabilityBrampton is able to sustain air quality and green buildings. Brampton reduces its parking spaces to a minimum required. 5% of space is dedicated to car-pool, car-share, and low-E vehicles. Brampton designed street lights to reduce energy by 15%. They utilized LED lights which saves energy. Another way to be sustainable is promoting green roofs for large-high density residential spaces. Providing green roofs 80% of all high-density developments. Ottawa has an efficient water cleaning process. Therefore, Ottawa would be able to sustain their water supply. ![]() I think Brampton needs a bit more upgrades in regards to historical importance. There are not many historical sites in Brampton compared to Ottawa. Historical sites are important in every city, country, continent! It’s a great way to learn of how that architecture was built and what obstacles it had to overcome to get to the final stage. Workers rebuild structures after the damages that occur and we should be aware of that. Learning history can inform also inform us what had happened in the past for it to be like the way it is now. It's good to look back sometimes for knowledge. ![]() Taiwan was the first to prohibit the act of consuming cats and dogs in all of Asia. It's been said that anyone who buys or eats the meat will be imposed on a fine of $8,200. In 1998, Taiwan made it illegal to slaughter dogs and cats. However, a market underground decided to abide. Taiwan has doubled up on its fine. Those who eat meat will be fined up to $65,000. That’s not all, there will be two years of jail time incorporated. Quite a lot! Every year, in June, for ten days, China has a festival that has to do with the process of executing the dogs. Citizens of China see around 10,000 dogs killed before their eyes.
